Porcelain Veneers
If you are not happy with your smile because of staining, unsightly gaps, the size & shape of your teeth or other cosmetic issue, you may be a perfect candidate for dental veneers.
You must have healthy teeth and gums before any cosmetic procedure is performed. If you’re a patient that suffers from tooth decay, gum disease or an infection, your dentist would have to treat these underlying conditions before considering porcelain veneers.
If you tend to grind or clench your teeth, you may risk chipping or damaging your veneers, your dentist may suggest you wear a mouth guard to help preserve your teeth and veneers.
Porcelain veneers are a permanent solution since only a portion of enamel (0.3 to 0.5 mm) is trimmed down to make room for your new veneer and a beautiful smile.
Porcelain veneers help to recreate the look of natural teeth, while providing strength & protection to the underlying tooth surface. With gentle use, porcelain veneers can last a lifetime.
However, normal wear and tear can result in gradual damage to the porcelain, giving them an average life expectancy of 10 to 15 years. During this lifespan, it’s important to keep your porcelain veneers clean and hygienic.
A few tips on how to care for your veneers: No special tools are necessary for maintaining your veneers, treat them just as you would your natural teeth by brushing gently with a soft/ ultra soft toothbrush twice a day & flossing once a day and seeing your dentist regularly. You should be able to eat and speak normally without any concerns about the integrity or functionality of your teeth, AVOID eating non-food items like ice and opening packets with your teeth at all times.
